N9VE Highlights from ICHS2026 in Belgium
N9VE participated in the 2nd International Circular Hydrometallurgy Symposium (ICHS2026), held from 2–4 September in Belgium. N9VE represented the ReMAg project by presenting the latest research entitled “Sustainable Hydrometallurgical Recovery of REE from EoL NdFeB Magnets: Pilot-Scale Validation and Environmental Assessment.”
The research presents the pilot-scale validation of N9VE’s closed-loop hydrometallurgical process for the recovery of rare earth elements from end-of-life NdFeB permanent magnets. The process achieved rare earth element recovery efficiencies above 95% and rare earth oxide purities of up to 99%, while enabling the recovery and reuse of water and reagents. A Life Cycle Assessment further confirmed the environmental benefits of the proposed process compared with primary rare earth production, highlighting its potential to support a more sustainable and circular approach to critical raw materials recovery.
These results contribute to the development of a more circular, sustainable and resilient European supply chain for rare earth elements, supporting the transition towards more efficient resource recovery and reduced dependence on primary raw material production.
